Sworn translations in Ukrainian

We translate and certify your documents from Ukrainian to Italian and from Italian to Ukrainian, with legal value across Italy. We carefully transliterate names from Cyrillic and, when needed, arrange the apostille.

The Ukrainian community in Italy has grown significantly, especially since 2022 with temporary protection: sworn translations are needed daily for residence, school enrolment, healthcare, work, family reunification and citizenship. We handle civil-status certificates, qualifications, criminal records and licences.

Documents we translate in Ukrainian

We handle the whole file — translation, swearing-in at Court and apostille if needed — for the documents most requested by the Ukrainian community:

What to keep in mind

Transliteration from Ukrainian Cyrillic

We render names and surnames consistently with the international passport and your other documents, to avoid identity disputes at the counters.

Ukraine and the Hague Convention

Ukraine is a party to the Hague Convention: a Ukrainian record for Italy usually needs apostilling in Ukraine before translation; for Italian documents bound for Ukraine we arrange the apostille after the swearing-in.

Temporary protection and older documents

We help people under temporary protection with documents for residence, school and work. Some older records may be in Russian: we translate them the same way.

Translating from Ukrainian: transliteration and apostille

With Ukrainian documents the two most delicate points are the transliteration of names and surnames from Cyrillic — which must match the international passport, otherwise offices may dispute the person's identity — and the apostille: Ukraine is a party to the Hague Convention, so a Ukrainian record intended for Italy usually needs to be apostilled in Ukraine before translation. We check the correct sequence with you, so you don't risk redoing the work.

Since 2022 many requests come from people under temporary protection who need to translate documents for residence, school enrolment, healthcare and work. Among the most frequent: the birth certificate, the criminal record (довідка про несудимість) and qualifications. Some older documents may be in Russian: we handle them the same way.

In Italy every sworn translation goes through Italian. We translate to and from Ukrainian and handle the swearing-in at Court: the translation is thus valid throughout the country. See how it works →
FAQ

Translations in Ukrainian: the answers

How do you handle transliteration of Ukrainian names?
We follow the spelling on the international passport and your official documents, so identity stays consistent across all procedures. If you have a spelling to follow, let us know.
Does the Ukrainian document need an apostille before translation?
Usually yes: if it was issued in Ukraine and must be valid in Italy, it is apostilled at origin, then translated and sworn here. We check the correct sequence together.
Do you also translate from Italian into Ukrainian?
Yes, both ways. In Italy the swearing-in always goes through Italian: we manage the whole file in the direction you need.
